Artist Si Bollé opened IsSI, a new art initiative for the Quartier des Quais, located Boulevard de Dixmude 38, in what has been a bank.
Si Bollé wants to organise some meetings with other artists and other art forms to create a dialogue, enhancing this double space. Without doubt an asset for the neighborhood!

Painting Circus. Martin Bollé & Si Bollé. 20/8 -20/9
Martin Bollé (1912-1968), grootvader van Si Bollé, samengebracht in één tentoonstelling. Tegenstellingen maar ook verwantschappen. Kunstschilder uit eigen overtuiging, opgegroeid in een nederig Vilvoords gezin dat hem naar Sint-Lucas in Schaarbeek en naar de Academie van Antwerpen zendt, verovert hij op 27-jarige leeftijd de Prix de Rome in 1940. Het métier heeft hij volgens de regels van de kunst aangeleerd, wat hij nooit is vergeten en waarvan hij ook geen afstand wil doen, regelrecht tegen de eisen van de twintigste eeuw in. Een koppigaard, een aanbidder van de geschilderde toets en een boetseerder van het licht. Een detaillist van het intimisme van het portret, een kenner van de virtuositeit en van de innerlijkheid van de geportretteerde. Realistisch in een zekere zin, maar ook melancholisch in zijn visie op het eeuwige circus van de menselijke verhoudingen. Goed in kleine formaten, maar ook in grotere werken (standaardmaat 250 bij 180 cm) en in gigantische werken waarvoor hij de muren van zijn atelier moet uitbreken om ze buiten te krijgen. Si Bollé heeft het één en ander in het bloed, ook de grote formaten.
De veertiger, de vijftiger en de zestiger jaren van de voorbije eeuw lijken niet op wat er vandaag omgaat. Vandaar ook de verschillen tussen grootvader en kleindochter, maar de hang naar het grote formaat, de geste van de schilder, zit blijkbaar beiden in het bloed. De grisaille die de kleuren tempert bij de één spatten compleet open bij de ander. De kern van de zaak echter is dezelfde: het plezier van het schilderen om het schilderen zelf.
Het onderwerp van kunst is de kunst zelf.

IssI Project is a new art initiative for the Quartier des Quais, located Boulevard de Dixmude 38, in what has been a bank. Artist Si Bollé wants to offer the area a shining and colourful exhibitions.
A white cube space houses huger paintings with exploding colours in a whirlwind of movement. The mysterious and darker space of the broken up bank vault offers regularly sweet snacks painted artworks.

IssI kicks-off Downtown Brussels Art with artist Bollé
For just one week IssI Project has the privilege to show some amazing artworks of the artist's duo Feipel & Bechameil.
The artists represented Luxembourg at the 54th. Venice Bienale in 2011 and have since exhibited internationally.
During two weekends, Si Bollé will go in dialogue with them on the opening of Downtown Brussels Art.
The vernissage will be held on Saturday 24the May at 11 A. M. in the presence of the artists. Please join us.
